In addition to our Nursery provision the school offers wraparound care for children aged 3+ years. Breakfast Club starts at 7:50am and After School Club runs until 5pm term time only. Book request forms and charges for this provision are available on our website or from the school office.
We recommend a minimum of 4 sessions per week; comprised of whole days or half days to ensure that children are well established, happy and independent in the Oliver’s Battery Nursery environment. Children are able to do more or less then this but we ask for a minimum booking of 2 sessions a week (a full day or 2 mornings).
A significant amount of time is allocated to Discovery time in which children take the lead in their learning through play. During this time they are able to access both the indoor and outside environments. The children also have opportunities to work within small groups daily as well as coming together as a large group. Adults follow the children’s lead and extend the children’s learning.
Funding
Our charges are £6 per hour. You may be able to get free childcare for your child aged 9 months to 4 years old if you live in England.
The amount of free childcare you can get depends on:
• your child’s age and circumstances
• whether you’re working (employed, self-employed, or a director)
• your income (and your partner’s income, if you have one)
• your immigration status
The number of hours of free childcare you can get depends on the age of your child. If your children:
• 9 months to 2 years old, you can get 15 hours per week of free childcare
• 3 to 4 years old, you can get 30 hours per week of free childcare
If you claim certain benefits, you may be eligible for free education and childcare for 2-year-olds under a separate scheme.
You will not be eligible if your child does not usually live with you.
You must apply for a code by the end of the month before a new term starts. For example, if the term starts on 1 September you must apply by 31 August. We will ask for your code at your child’s settling in sessions, this will be before they start at the Nursery. You will need to apply for a new code before the start of each term that your child is with us.
If you miss the deadline to apply for your code you will not be able to apply retrospectively and will be charged for your place.
It is essential that you provide your code when your child starts and that you return our funding form which will be given to you at your child’s settling in sessions so that we can apply for their funding. If you do not provide us with a valid code or we are unable to apply for their funding before the deadline we will charge you at £6 per hour.
All parents of children aged three to four can access 15 hours of government funded childcare. It doesn't matter how much you earn or how many hours you work. You do not need to apply for a code if you are only using the universal funding for 3 and 4 year olds.

Wraparound care
Wraparound care is available for Nursery children aged 3 years and above
Breakfast Club
Here at Oliver’s Battery Primary School we run a successful and fun Breakfast Club. It is available for all children from age 3 and above.
Children are able to eat a nutritious breakfast and then participate in a range of activities before school starts. Some of the activities available are board games, ball games and access to the ICT suite.
The club runs from 7.50am until 8.45am every day in the school hall. The cost per day is £5.25 per child.
The breakfast includes a drink of fruit juice, cereal, fruit and toast and low fat spreads. The menu sometimes alters slightly to include yoghurt and other breakfast foods. We also cater for any special dietary needs. Please note our school is a nut-free site.
The children are looked after by three supervisory assistants. In addition to this a member of the school’s senior leadership team is also present in school.
After School Club
The School provides Ofsted registered after school childcare provision to support parents and children, using the extensive grounds at Oliver’s Battery Primary School. Children in the Nursery Class aged 3 and above may attend until 5pm.
Led by fully qualified staff from Level 3
Using the school facilities with wide range of activities for all age groups
Open Monday to Friday
Ad-hoc and regular bookings
3.30 – 5.00pm cost per session £9.00
Clothing
Please dress your child with suitable clothes for a busy day playing with sand, mud, clay, glue and paint. We recommend that children do not wear their best clothes but are ‘dressed for mess’. Please send a bag with a change of clothes in case of ‘accidents’. If your child is in nappies please ensure that you provide enough nappies, wipes etc. for the day. For children who are toilet training, we recommend joggers or any other trousers which they can easily get on or off. Clothes with lots of buttons can be frustrating for them when they are playing dressing up. Please ensure that footwear is sturdy and suitable for both indoor and outdoor play. Please can you provide a pair of ‘wellies’ which can be left at the preschool (ensure they are named) and ensure that each day your child has clothing suitable for the weather.
Food
We will provide snack each morning. If your child is at Nursery for lunchtime (11.45-12.45) they can bring a packed lunch or order a hot school dinner which is provided by school at a cost of £3 per meal. We encourage healthy eating and we appreciate your support with this. Due to allergies we have a strict no nuts policy. Please ensure that there are no nuts or nut products in your child’s lunch.
